At one point Arsenal captain was on the brink of tears
After two years, 73 games, four goals, and three red cards, Arsenal captain David Luiz will leave the club. The Brazilian came from Chelsea in 2019 and played two seasons with the Gunners, although he struggled with injuries recently. If his teammates beat Brighton today, and other results go their way, Luiz might get a perfect giveaway gift – Arsenal in Conference League next season.
The captain gave an emotional farewell in front of the full locker room and expressed gratitude to his teammates, announcing that he will play for a couple of seasons before trying the coaching job.
“If, in some moments, I did something bad with you guys, sorry, but it was always my intention to give my best for you guys. It was always my intention to help you guys. I think you guys understood a bit that I am a collective person, so my happiness is to see others happy. So, I try my best.

Thank you so much. I hope to see you soon guys. I’m going to play for a few more years and soon I’m going to be coach… so maybe someone from here is going to be my player! I don’t see a lot of parts for young players! But for sure it’s great. It’s never easy when you finish a cycle but it’s always great because God has the best for us” he told the squad at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground on Saturday.

Luiz continued with a message to his young teammates to enjoy football, because time goes quickly, pointing out that he used to be the youngest, but now is the oldest player in the dressing room. At this point, he was overwhelmed by emotions and his voice started to croak, becoming rather tearful, prompting a round of applause from his teammates,
“I’ve just played football, and continued to play football because I really love football, that’s why. So enjoy this moment of our lives. One day it’s going to finish, but try to finish it at the high level – and the high level is giving everything every day and enjoy and share moments together” finished Luiz.
