No green light for the English star, who is recovering from shoulder surgery
For almost two years, Jude Bellingham has been battling a shoulder injury. It first popped out during a match against Rayo Vallecano, and though he carried on playing, he kept delaying surgery. After the Club World Cup, he finally gave in and went under the knife.
The plan was always a three-month recovery - and that's exactly how long he'll be out. It means he'll miss England's September fixtures, with a return penciled in for October.
Bellingham himself had hoped to come back sooner, but Real Madrid aren't taking any risks. At the Bernabeu, the policy is simple: zero gamble, zero shortcuts.
The midfielder is already training, feels great, and even teased fans recently with a message: "See you soon."
But the medical team has the final say, and they've blocked any idea of an early return.
His recovery has gone smoothly, and in theory he might be able to step onto the pitch ahead of schedule. Still, the doctors have ruled it out. Most likely, he won't get the green light until mid-October.
For Xabi Alonso, the news is actually positive: everything is on track. But until Bellingham is at 100%, Madrid won't take a single risk - not even for their star midfielder.
