The Anfield club is ready to break records for the Bayern Munich start amid sweeping changes

The rumour mill is in overdrive, and this time, it's dragging Michael Olise right into the centre of a brewing transfer storm.

In the aftermath of last weekend's defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, speculation in Germany suggests that Arne Slot has effectively sealed his fate at Liverpool. With the Dutchman reportedly heading for the exit, and Mohamed Salah already confirming he will leave at the end of the season, the club's focus has swiftly shifted to finding a new talisman.

And that search, according to Bild, could lead straight to Munich.

Whispers have reportedly reached the dressing room of Bayern Munich that Liverpool are preparing a move for Olise, described by some as arguably the most in-form player in world football right now.

The story doesn't end there. Speaking on his Bayern Insider podcast, Christian Falk revealed that Real Madrid have also explored a potential deal for the French winger. Some have dismissed that as mind games ahead of a possible UEFA Champions League clash, while others believe Florentino Perez is ready to make a statement signing after a turbulent campaign.

The numbers being floated are staggering. Falk claims Madrid could go as high as €165 million, while Bild, citing its own sources, suggests Liverpool might push towards €200 million, potentially even threatening the long-standing transfer record set when Neymar moved from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain for €222 million.

Unsurprisingly, such figures are enough to spark both excitement and anxiety among Liverpool supporters. Yet inside Bayern, the message remains calm, at least publicly.

Sporting director Max Eberl dismissed the noise: Bayern, he insists, have no reason to worry. There is no release clause, and Olise is seen as fully committed.

CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen went even further, making it crystal clear: the player is not for sale, regardless of who comes calling. His contract runs until 2029, and, in Bayern's view, that's the end of the discussion.

For his part, Olise appears settled. He has embraced life in Munich and continues to deliver at an extraordinary level, building on last season's remarkable output with numbers that now place him firmly in Ballon d'Or territory.

Still, football has a habit of shifting quickly.

The pull of the Premier League, and a club of Liverpool's stature, cannot be ignored. Especially not now. Salah's departure alone frees up close to €25 million in wages, while Olise currently earns significantly less in Germany. Financially, structurally, and symbolically, the move makes sense.

And there's another layer.

Whoever replaces Slot could shape everything. German reports increasingly point toward Xabi Alonso as the leading candidate. The Spaniard, who remains highly regarded at Anfield, is believed to be ready for a new challenge.

There are already familiar connections in place. Florian Wirtz, another of Alonso's trusted lieutenants, could emerge as Liverpool's new focal point, while Jeremie Frimpong is also part of that wider network.

In that context, Olise becomes more than just a transfer target. For now, Bayern insist there is nothing to discuss, but when numbers climb, and ambitions collide, even the firmest positions can start to shift.
