The dynamic midfielder, who recently joined KCB FC, departed Nairobi on Wednesday night for Spain, where he is set to audition at the Segunda División side.

According to sources privy to the move, the trials could potentially culminate in a permanent switch should Ong'anya impress during his stint abroad.

“Jack has left for Spain. He will be there for a month, and if he performs well, the likelihood of him securing a permanent deal is very high,” a source close to the club disclosed.

Cádiz, currently joint top with Eibar in the 22-team Spanish second tier with 15 points, has established itself as a competitive side with ambitions of returning to La Liga.

For Ong'anya, this represents a golden opportunity to test his abilities in a highly demanding European environment.

The 19-year-old midfielder has enjoyed a rapid rise since breaking into the FKF Premier League just a year ago.

He joined Sofapaka at the start of the 2024/25 season straight from Kakamega High School, where his commanding presence and box-to-box energy quickly made him one of the standout performers.

His tally of seven goals, including a memorable hat-trick in Sofapaka’s stunning 7-1 demolition of Tusker FC, underlined his attacking instincts.

Alongside veteran captain Humphrey Mieno, Ong'anya played a pivotal role in steering Sofapaka to a remarkable seventh-place finish, a significant achievement for a side that had only survived the previous campaign via relegation play-offs.

Before his departure, Ong'anya had already made appearances for KCB this season, coming on as a substitute in their 2-0 opening-day win over Tusker before earning his full debut in a narrow 1-0 loss to Mathare United.
