Three Kenyan-based players are in the current South Sudan team

South Sudan's head coach Stefano Cusin opines that the nation's players plying their trade in Kenya are part of the country's future in football.

The current South Sudan team has Bandari's Jackson Dwang and the Kenya Police duo of Rashid Toha and Tito Okello. AFC Leopards midfielder Saad Musa is also part of the South Sudan national team although he is currently injured.

Speaking at Kasarani Stadium during their last training session before facing Kenya on Tuesday at the same venue, the Canadian-born tactician revealed that apart from the three players he is planning to conduct more scouting in Kenya in search of eligible South Sudanese.

"They are important players and are the future of South Sudan's national team. I will come to Kenya and we will scout deeply because when you coach a country like South Sudan you must move around and watch the players in Kenya, Uganda, and Ethiopia but it is part of my job," Cusin said.

Further, the 54 year old coach revealed that local clubs in Kenya have previously shown interest in his services, but he did not delve deeper on the matter.

He went on to add that Kenya has all the pre-requisites for football in the country to flourish.

"The best clubs in the country used to call me in the past. There are good facilities in Kenya, good mentality, and good organization. Now, there is football in the TV and I think that is something positive for football in Kenya. You have quality players and everything to grow," he added.

Ahead of the match tomorrow, Cusin is more focused on the team's performance as opposed to the result of the day.

In the four meetings between the two sides previously, Kenya has won all and will be looking to maintain the perfect record over the Bright Stars.

"We do not have a home stadium and we are always playing away therefore we do not look at where we are playing. In this game I am not looking at the result but the performance is important for me to understand what we can do both at the individual level and as a team. We are focusing at the World Cup qualification where we start with a very tough match against Senegal. I want to be sure that when we go there we are competitive that is why we are playing this kind of friendly match," he finished.
