Ulinzi Starlets sit top of the league table with 20 points after benefiting from a walkover on Saturday when their opponents, Kisumu All Starlets, failed to honour the fixture.
The FKF Women Premier League (WPL) Matchday 10 continues today, Sunday, December 21, with four matches scheduled in a packed day of action.
Ahead of today’s fixtures, Ulinzi Starlets sit top of the league table with 20 points after benefiting from a walkover on Saturday when their opponents, Kisumu All Starlets, failed to honour the fixture.
Ulinzi are level on points with second-placed Trinity Starlets, while Kenya Police Bullets and Kayole Starlets complete the top four with 16 points each.
At the bottom of the table, Kisumu All Starlets remain rooted with just one point and are joined in the relegation zone by fellow Nyanza sides Kisped Queens and Gideon Starlets.
Kenya Police Bullets vs Trinity Starlets
The highlight of the day will be a top-of-the-table clash between defending champions Kenya Police Bullets and joint leaders Trinity Starlets at the Police Sacco Stadium from 11:00 am.
Police, chasing a third consecutive league title, began the season strongly by winning their opening five matches before a three-game winless run saw them drop from first to fourth.
Head coach David Vijago will be keen to guide the law enforcers back to winning ways ahead of the league’s festive break.
Trinity Starlets, on the other hand, are enjoying an impressive first half of the season and have occupied top spot for nearly five rounds.
The Sylvanus Wesonga-coached side will be aiming for a victory that would open up a three-point lead at the summit as the league heads into the break.
Kayole Starlets vs Madira Soccer Assassins
At Dandora Stadium, league newcomers Kayole Starlets will host fellow debutants Madira Soccer Assassins from 11:00 am.
Kayole had been on a strong run before suffering a 2-1 defeat to Trinity Starlets in their last outing and will be eager to return to winning ways against ninth-placed Madira, who have experienced a mixed start to life in the top tier.
Other matches
In the day’s other fixtures, 11th-placed Kisped Queens will face seventh-placed Bungoma Queens at the Moi Stadium, Kisumu, from 1:00 pm.
At the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay, Gideon Starlets will be seeking to climb out of the relegation zone when they take on Kenyan giants Vihiga Queens from 1:00 pm.
