Kisped, who are yet to win a game this season, remain at the rock-bottom of the log with a point
FKF Women Premier League (WPL) newbies Kayole Starlets ended their two-game win-less streak with a comfortable 4-1 win over Kisped Queens in a match played at the Utalii Grounds.
The clash was the sole league fixture played on Sunday, 23 November, as the rest of three contests were staged on Saturday.
Teams that contributed two or more players to the national team, Harambee Starlets, who will play friendlies in Algeria had their round six fixtures postponed from this weekend to a later date.
Kayole headed into the match on the back of a loss against Kibera Soccer Women, that was preceded by a draw against Bungoma Queens.
Kisped, on the other hand, had not won a single match and had only a point to their name, placing 11th on the log.
The match started at a slow pace, with both teams looking nervous and losing possession easily as the early battle centered in midfield.
As the game approached the quarter hour mark, Kisped seemed to have been the first to settle, pinning Kayole in their own half and dominating play, with Tacy Olembo and Brenda Akinyi dictating the midfield.
Kayole broke the deadlock in the 24th minute through Nuru Hadima after receiving a pass from Lindah Kihara outside the box.
She took a shot at goal which seemed harmless, but slipped through the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
Kisped did not seem to be demotivated by the goal, as they kept pushing with their efforts paying off in the 38th minute when Laura Atsabina equalized from the spot after captain Hellen Ochieng handled in captain.
Second half
Kayole came back in the second half a much more rejuvenated side, and regained their lead in the 49th minute, when Esther Ngugi brought in a delicious cross that Kihara headed home with a powerful header for her fourth goal of the season.
Seven minutes later, Kayole earned a free kick that Mercy Mungaro took, with the goalkeeper punching it in the path of substitute Faith Naliaka who headed home for Kayole’s third of the day.
Magneta Ocharo, who had been lively the whole day on the right flank, completed the floodgates of goals in the 91st minute to ensure Kayole Starlets walked home with a 4-1 victory.
With the win, Kayole Starlets moved to fourth on the league with 10 points, five shy of league leaders Kenya Police Bullets.
Meanwhile, Kisped are now at the bottom of the table with a point.
