AFC Leopards' recent bad run in the FKF Premier League extended after they were held to a 1-1 draw by the struggling Kariobangi Sharks in a match played at the Kasarani Stadium.

Ingwe went into the match on the back of a goalless draw against Murang'a Seal, that was preceded by a loss to Mara Sugar FC.

Leopards had previously won three consecutive matches after a bad start to the season, while Sharks had won only a game in their first eight matches.

James Kinyanjui nearly broke the deadlock in the seventh minute, but his shot flew over the bar.

Ingwe attacked again immediately, but were dispossessed for a quick counter attack by Sharks, who found the back of the net with their first sight of goal courtesy of sublime strike by Rising Stars midfielder Humphrey Aroko.

Leopards would have drawn level in the 25th minute, but Victor Omune missed the target after weaving past his markers.

Sharks got a chance to double their lead in the 35th minute when Steve Mbulure found himself in one-on-one situation, but Leopards goalkeeper Humphrey Katasi was equal to the task.

As desperation kicked in before half time, Ronald Sichenje attempted from long range, only for his shot to go wide.

In the second half, coach Fred Ambani brought on Brian Wanyama and former Sharks forward Julius Masaba for Boniface Munyendo and Sichenje in the 58th minute in a bid to add more tempo into the match.

Leopards’ efforts paid off in the 62nd minute when Omune headed home from a rebound after the Sharks back line failed to clear a free kick from Kelly Madada.

Sharks were seemingly satisfied with a single point and dropped deep to defend their goal, while also taking time in restarts to have the clock tick down.

Ingwe, on the other hand, were pushed for a winner, bringing in Christopher Koloti and Hassan Beja in the 80th minute for Omune and Madada.

The fresh legs could not inspire Leopards to take home all three points.

lngwe’s next match is the Mashemeji Derby set for 30 November.

Sharks whose winless run extends to five matches are still 17th on the table with seven points from nine matches.

Elsewhere, Shabana were held to a 1-1 draw by Murang'a Seal at St. Sebastian Park, Murang'a.

Shabana found a breakthrough in the third minute through Wycliffe Omondi.

John Kiplagat replied for Seal in the 35th minute.
