Despite securing maximum points, the match was overshadowed by a tense confrontation on the touchline that culminated in Odhiambo’s dismissal late in the second half.

The former KCB FC tactician did not hold back in his post-match remarks, openly questioning what he termed as “inconsistent and biased officiating” that he believed threatened to alter the course of the contest.

The turning point of the match came ten minutes before full time when a prolonged exchange between the visibly agitated coach and the centre referee stretched close to five minutes.

Tempers flared as Odhiambo protested a series of decisions he felt unfairly disadvantaged his side.

The standoff ultimately ended with Omeno producing a red card, sending the Homeboyz bench into disbelief.

While the technical area drama threatened to derail the momentum of the match, the players maintained their composure on the pitch, holding firm to secure a crucial 2-1 victory in the FKF Premier League clash.

Speaking after the match, Odhiambo remained unapologetic about his reaction.

“I am disappointed with the officiating during the Bomet match. The referee was biased and made a lot of inconsistent decisions that could have potentially turned the scores in the match.

I do not regret my actions that saw me red-carded, but I had to step in because the inconsistencies were alarming,” a visibly livid Odhiambo stated.

His remarks add to the growing debate around officiating standards in the league, particularly at a stage of the season where every decision carries significant weight in both the title race and relegation battle.

Beyond the controversy, the result itself carried substantial importance for the Kakamega-based outfit.

Coming off dropped points against Ulinzi Stars, Homeboyz required a strong response to maintain momentum in the upper echelons of the table.

Odhiambo was quick to praise his players’ resilience and mental strength, especially against a determined APS Bomet side fighting to secure their top-flight status.

“I am glad with my players’ reaction, especially against a hard-fighting side seeking to remain in the league and after the dropped points against Ulinzi Stars. The win effectively reignites our title quest, which is still within reach,” he added.

The victory lifts Kakamega Homeboyz to 38 points, placing them fourth on the table, eleven points behind leaders Gor Mahia, albeit with a game in hand.

While the gap appears significant, Odhiambo insists the championship conversation is far from settled.

Attention now turns to the domestic knockout competition, with Homeboyz set to host Kipchimchim FC in the Mozzart Bet Cup over the weekend.

The club will be eyeing a second cup triumph, adding another layer of ambition to what is shaping up to be a defining season.
