The 2023 Mozzart Bet Cup champions produced a spirited performance to register their second consecutive victory, and their third win of the 2025–26 campaign.
Goals from Henry Omollo, Hillary Otieno, and Eston Omengo sealed the win for the Kakamega-based outfit.
Omollo opened the scoring in the 25th minute, with a fine header from Boniface Onyango’s cross, before Otieno doubled the advantage shortly after the restart, tapping home Josphat Lopaga’s well-placed delivery in the 47th minute.
Omengo later put the result beyond doubt with a sublime low-driven free kick that left the Ulinzi players stunned.
However, the hosts’ victory came under pressure when Omollo, who had opened the scoring, was sent off mid-way through the second half after receiving a second yellow card, forcing Homeboyz to finish the match with ten men.
Speaking after the encounter, coach Odhiambo praised his players for maintaining composure and executing the game plan even after the red card setback.
"We played well because we were determined to get maximum points. I am proud of how the players showed urgency in transition and managed the game effectively after the sending-off,” said Odhiambo.
“We knew when to sit back, absorb the pressure, and look for spaces on the counter. That approach worked perfectly, leading to the foul that resulted in our third goal.
"I am especially proud of our captain, Eston Omengo, for stepping up and taking responsibility with that decisive free kick," he added.
Odhiambo, who is in his third stint at the club after returning from KCB FC at the start of the season, described the victory as a massive confidence boost as his side aims to maintain momentum in the coming fixtures.
"Winning matches breeds confidence. Yesterday's result will give the players belief and freedom to express themselves even more in upcoming games, which can only work to our advantage,” he further stated.
Homeboyz will shift focus to their mid-week clash against a rejuvenated APS Bomet side on Wednesday, 29 October, at Green Stadium, Kericho.
They will, however, face tough opposition, as Bomet will head into the tie buoyed by their first-ever top-flight victory, having stunned Kariobangi Sharks 2-1 at the Kasarani Annex on Saturday, 25 October.
