Germany public is expecting Nagelsmann to leave his post
The downfall is continuing. Who could have thought that the Germans, four time world champions will be in permanent crisis for 12 years? They were triumphant at the World Cup in Brazil in 2014 but instead of continuing domination, they failed to even reach beyond the group stage in the next two World Cups. Finally they made it this time, only to be stopped by average Paraguay after the penalty shootout. The disturbance in Germany is big, and the two most common sentences out there now are: ‘Sack Julian Nagelsmann’ and ‘Appoint Jurgen Klopp’. But, it’s not that easy.
First of all, the Germany coach is not backing down and refuses to resign. He put the pressure on Germany Football Federation, saying that it’s up for them to keep him or not, as he is not planning to leave.
"If you exit after the first stage, it's not enough for German football. This is now the third elimination in a row so we are not part of the first class teams any more. I am disappointed. If the DFB German FA wants me, I am going to continue. I know a lot of people want me to leave, but I would love to continue if the DFB want me. I'll give my arguments to my boss. If there was a survey today in Germany people aren't going to talk about me positively, obviously. But in football you win some and you lose some, it's always been that way. We haven't really done much in this tournament to make people celebrate, but I have a lot of confidence that we could have done a better job. I'm not someone who runs away" said Nagelsmann after the defeat.
The logical successor is Jurgen Klopp. The legendary coach is currently an executive in Red Bull, but the German job is not an ordinary one. Still, the former Liverpool and Dortmund coach was polite enough when asked about the possibility of becoming the new Germany manager.
"I haven't thought about the German head coach role yet. I understand that when the national coach position is discussed, my name is mentioned in some form. But it's not the moment to really talk about it. There's nothing to say about it. I have a job that I enjoy very much. As far as I know, it's not a part-time job” Klopp explained. But lets wait a few days more….
