The exhibition match will be played a day before the start of the CECAFA Kagame Cup, which will also be hosted in Rwanda.

Gor Mahia are among the confirmed participants for the regional tournament, where they will compete against some of East and Central Africa's top clubs.

Mozzart Bet Cup finalists Kenya Police FC have also secured a place in the competition.

The law enforcers made their CECAFA Kagame Cup debut last year in Tanzania but were eliminated during the group stage.

For Gor Mahia, the friendly against Rayon Sports will provide a valuable opportunity to assess their new signings and fine-tune preparations ahead of both the CECAFA Kagame Cup and the 2026/27 CAF Champions League campaign, which begins in early September.

The match is equally significant for Rayon Sports, who will use the fixture to sharpen their squad before the new season.

The Rwandese giants are set to represent their country in the CAF Confederation Cup after winning the FA Cup last season. They finished second in the league.

Rayon Sports Day, locally known as Umunsi w'Igikundiro, is the club's annual fan festival marking the launch of a new season.

The event celebrates the team's passionate supporters while officially unveiling the men's and women's squads, coaching staff, and new playing kits.

In addition to the ceremonial activities, the club uses the occasion to introduce commercial partners, strengthen sponsorship relationships, and engage with corporate stakeholders.

The centrepiece of the celebrations is an international exhibition match against a high-profile African club, offering supporters an entertaining spectacle while allowing both teams to gauge their readiness for the challenges of the upcoming domestic and continental campaigns.
