Simba beat their bitter rivals Yanga 1-0 in the Cup final

Harambee Stars centre back Joash Onyango has won his third trophy with Tanzanian champions Simba following their 1-0 win over bitter rivals Yanga in the FA Cup final.

Onyango who joined the high spending club in August last year from Gor Mahia had previously won the Community Shield gong and the league crown.

The hard tackling defender clocked full time in the final staged in Kigoma which was settled by Ugandan defensive midfielder Taddeo Lwanga who headed home in the dying minutes of second half.

It was also his first win in the biggest inter club football fixture in Tanzania having watched the last two end in a 1-0 loss and a one all draw.

Simba had booked a slot in the final after narrowly edging Azam 1-0 in the semifinals played last month while Yanga saw off Biashara United who are under the tutelage of Patrick Odhiambo 2-0.

Yanga finished with ten men after Congolese import Mukoko Tonombe was sent off in the first half for apparently boxing John Bocco.

As Onyango picked the winners medal, his compatriot Faruk Shikalo had to be contend with the runner up laurel as he was in goal for Yanga.

The Kenyan international has been enjoying consistent playing time from the time first choice Metacha Mnata was send packing last month following an ugly altercation with fans shortly after their 3-2 win over Ruvu Shooting.

Mnata who is currently with the national U23 team participating in the CECAFA tournament in Ethiopia mercy lies at the heart of the club's disciplinary committee.

For the time the former Mbao FC custodian has been away, the budding Ramadhan Kabwili has served as Faruk's back up
