Joash Onyango picks his preferred centre back partner

After being a mainstay at Simba SC, Kenyan international Joash Onyango believes Henock Inonga is his best centre back pairing at the Tanzania Premier League champions.

In the 17 league games played thus far this season the former Gor Mahia center-back has been paired alongside Kennedy Juma, Pascal Wawa and Henock Inonga.

Joash revealed that all defenders bring a different dimension to the team but added that he is more settled when played alongside Inonga due to their telepathic understanding.

“I've had a chance to play alongside all center backs, Kennedy Juma, Pascal Wawa and Henock Inonga.

Everyone has their own strengths in helping us achieve our goals but I think when I play with Inonga I'm happier because we communicate better,” Joash told Mwanaspoti.

The 29-year-old has been the most preferred center back at Simba helping them have a sturdy defense that has only shipped in six goals thus far this season.

Joash emphasized the importance of good communication from the goalkeeper to the backline when defending.

“A good defense is one that communicates and has some understanding in order to make Aishi Manula's work easier.

We are supposed to have good communication from the goalkeeper all through the defense in order to deal with the opposition's attack,” added Onyango.
