Ingavi reveals his targets ahead of first season at Shabana

The former Kenya Under 20 forward also spoke of the team's rich history, passionate supporters and attractive style of play
New Shabana striker Luis Ingavi says winning trophies, rather than simply collecting victories, is the ambition driving him after completing his move to the FKF Premier League side.

The former Kenya Under 20 forward has set his sights on helping the Glamour Boys challenge for silverware, while also reaching double figures in goals during the 2026/27 season.
"I want to help the club win trophies, because that is what every player dreams about. Winning individual matches is important, but what people remember at the end of the season are the titles you have won. I want to be part of a team that creates history and gives these fans something to celebrate," Ingavi said.
The striker, who joins Shabana after spells with Saginaw Valley State University and Monteverde University in the United States, also outlined his personal targets for his first season in Kenyan top-flight football.
"As a striker, you always want to score goals because that is your responsibility. I have challenged myself to score more than 10 goals this season, but more importantly, I want those goals to help the team win matches, and compete for trophies. If we achieve success as a team, then my personal targets will also take care of themselves."
Speaking after his unveiling on Tuesday evening, Ingavi said Shabana's rich history, passionate supporters and attractive style of play made joining the Kisii-based club an easy one.
"It feels amazing to become part of the Shabana family. This is a club with a long history, incredible supporters, and a strong football culture. From the first conversations I had with the club, I could feel the ambition they have, and that made me want to be part of this project," he said.
"The huge fan base, the community around the club, the coaching staff and the way the team wants to play all inspired me to join. I believe this is the right place for me to grow as a player, and also help the club achieve its objectives."
Ingavi also believes settling into the squad will be easier because he already knows several members of the team, including forward Brian Michira, while admitting he cannot wait to experience the atmosphere at Gusii Stadium.
"I already know some of the players, so adapting will not be difficult. That always helps because you settle faster when you have familiar faces around you. I am looking forward to building good chemistry with everyone in the squad," he said.
"The fans show up in huge numbers, and they always expect the team to win. That kind of support motivates players because you know you have people standing behind you throughout the match. I cannot wait to play in front of them and hopefully repay their support with goals and victories."
Ingavi becomes Shabana's sixth signing of the current transfer window, as the club continues a major rebuilding exercise ahead of the new season.
The Glamour Boys have also brought in left back Dennis Wanjala from Tusker, goalkeepers Bixente Lizarazu Otieno and Pavelh Ndzila from Posta Rangers and Tusker respectively, midfielder Sigmunn Maina Irungu from Swedish side AIK Framtid FK, and former Nairobi United captain Daniel Bichiok.
The arrivals follow the departures of defender Wycliffe Omondi Awiko to Nairobi United, and goalkeeper Stephen Ochieng to Tanzanian club Pamba Jiji, while Gilbert Abala has been training with Posta Rangers.
