FKF sack official over gross misconduct

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has announced the sacking of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer Wilfred Marori over gross misconduct.
In a letter dated today, Thursday 23 July by CEO Dennis Gicheru, the federation has decided to part ways with Marori, who has been putting various federation heads under pressure.

“The Federation has decided to SUMMARILY DISMISS you (Marori) from your position as Monitoring & Evaluation Officer, with effect from July 23, 2026, pursuant to Section 44(3) of the Employment Act, 2007,” read the statement in part.
The dismissal follows what has been an ongoing disciplinary process on Marori, who had received a show cause letter by the federation on Monday, 15 June.
In the letter, Marori was accused of desertation of duty without approval, misrepresentation of the federation, using foul language on fellow employees on social media, as well as use of federation logo in issuing statements on social media.
Marori would then issue a written response, submitted to FKF on Monday, 22 June, saying that he was given permission by Gicheru to work from off-office, a matter he said he was willing to provide written evidence within 48 hours. Nonetheless, Marori asserted that he was willing to resume on-site duty.
“As at the date of this letter, a continuous period of twenty-one (21) days has elapsed since that directive was served on you, during which you have neither reported for duty, nor provided the required written confirmation, nor otherwise communicated with the Federation in any form,” read part of the letter to Marori.
With Marori failing to produce written communication by Gicheru, who had dismissed his claims as well as failing to resume on-site duty, the federation judged Marori to have opted out of further opportunity to be heard, and went ahead to determine the matter in accordance with the Employment Act, 2007.
In effect, FKF found Marori guilty of gross misconduct in the meaning of Section 44(4) of the Employment Act 2007, an in particular absence from work without leave or lawful cause, willful neglect of duty, use of abusive or insulting language or behavior toward a fellow employee, disobeying lawful commands, and a breach of the express and implied terms of his appointment Letter, including his duties of fidelity, diligence, confidentiality, and obedience to lawful instructions.
The Federation went ahead to state that Marori will receive his final dues, while he is required to return all federation properties in his custody to the Human Resource Department.
