The former Shabana tactician revealed that maintaining possession in the opening stages was crucial in neutralising the energy of the home fans and disrupting Shabana’s rhythm, which he acknowledged always steers the Glamour Boys to victory at home.
"I told my players to calm down the Shabana fans because when they start to push their team in the first fifteen minutes, they are always dangerous.
Once we surpassed that quarter mark, I knew we were on course for a good outing,” Omollo told Azam Sports TV.
The Mailmen executed their plan with precision, withstanding early pressure from the spirited Tore Bobe faithful before striking through Brian Marita at the stroke of halftime.
Teddy Trevor doubled their advantage in the 78th minute, sealing a commanding lead that withstood a late rally from the hosts.
Shabana’s Victor Omondi managed to pull one back deep into stoppage time, but it proved too little too late as Posta held firm to hand the Kisii-based side their first defeat of the season.
Reflecting on the performance, the one-time FKFPL title-winning coach with Tusker FC in 2011, praised his players’ discipline and tactical awareness but expressed concern over his side’s continued vulnerability from set pieces.
"The most important thing, despite conceding, is to win the match. What matters is converting our chances and collecting maximum points.
However, we must address the issue of conceding from set pieces; it is becoming a concern since the league started, and we’ll work on it going forward,” he added.
The victory marked Rangers’ third of the campaign, propelling the Postal Cooperation of Kenya-backed side to the summit of the FKF Premier League table with 10 points from four matches.
