Homeboyz welcomed the FKF Premier League newbies to a rescheduled league match on Saturday, 11 October at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, with the hosts suffering a 2-0 defeat.

A dominant first-half display by the reigning Mozzart Bet Cup champions culminated with Enock Machaka grabbing a brace, which, in the end, condemned the hosts to their first league defeat of the season.

Muyoti, who was in charge of Homeboyz from 2019 until 2021, disclosed the first-half tactical superiority of Nairobi United.

“Our plan was to be direct in the first half, where we were stronger tactically as Homeboyz had started with three defenders but had to resort to a back four to contain us,” said Muyoti.

Muyoti also revealed the major talking points in the match that earned his side their second away win of the season.

“We utilised the chances we created in the first half, which was key to us winning the match. In the second half, Homeboyz had much more possession, but my defense stood tall to ensure we got the three points,” he said.

The former Nairobi City Stars tactician also went ahead to laud the depth in his team that allowed him to introduce Isaac Omweri and Shami Kibwana to lock out Homeboyz in the second half.

“It is important to have depth. They (Omweri and Shami) came on and brought some calmness to the game,” he stated.

After winning the Mozzart Bet Cup in their maiden season and while in the National Super League (NSL), Naibois are determined to replicate Sofapaka’s record of winning the top tier at their first time of asking.

Before then, the team faces Tunisian side Etoile Sportive du Sahel in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round on Sunday, 19 October at the Nyayo National Stadium from 1600 hrs.
