Homeboyz entered the match eager to close the gap on leaders Police FC, gather momentum, and avenge last season’s painful defeat to the Kisii-based side.

Shabana, riding on three straight wins, aimed to stretch their fine run to four and push themselves deeper into the title conversation.

As anticipated, Homeboyz flew out of the blocks with authority, dictating tempo from the onset.

Their quick start paid off just eight minutes in, when Peter Thiong’o was tripped inside the box by goalkeeper Stephen Ochieng

Defender Potiphar Odhiambo stepped up confidently and sent Ochieng the wrong way to hand Homeboyz an early advantage.

Five minutes later, the hosts almost doubled their lead through skipper Moses Mudavadi, who skipped past his marker before forcing Ochieng into a clean low gather with a stinging drive.

The pressure continued relentlessly. In the 18th minute, Congolese forward Gedeon Bendeka combined brilliantly with Thiong’o, only to slip at the crucial moment with the goal at his mercy.

Two minutes later, he again came agonisingly close, reacting quickly to a teasing John Omondi cross but steering his effort inches wide

Shabana slowly found their rhythm, and in the 25th minute, Austin Odongo nearly levelled terms, but defender Silas Abungana produced a perfectly timed block to deny the Harambee Stars forward.

Homeboyz again threatened in the 35th minute, when Potiphar Odhiambo latched onto a well-weighted corner from Hillary Otieno, but failed to get enough contact on his header.

Five minutes before the break, Shabana enjoyed their best moment of the half when Ezekiel Omuri twice beat his markers, only for Potiphar and Silas to throw their bodies in the way to preserve Homeboyz’s slender lead heading into the interval.

Shabana returned from the break transformed, pushing for an early equaliser through Odongo and Omuri, but Homeboyz’s backline, anchored by the outstanding Silas, held firm.

Five minutes past the hour mark, second-half substitute Victor Omondi twice came close with headers from James Mazembe’s deliveries, narrowly missing from close range

With twenty minutes left, Shabana carved out a golden opportunity for Nsubuga, whose powerful left-footed strike forced goalkeeper Masaka into a full-stretch, fingertip save to keep Homeboyz ahead.

Shabana continued to pile pressure. In the 75th minute, Mazembe dazzled past John Omondi, but Abungana once again produced a heroic block to deny the marauding winger.

The visitors came knocking again ten minutes from time when Erick Otieno rose highest to connect with Victor Omondi’s cross, but Masaka reacted sharply to claim the ball just in time.

Shabana’s persistence finally bore fruit at the death after being awarded a penalty in stoppage time.

Nsubuga stepped up and calmly sent Masaka the wrong way to level the scores at 1–1.

What followed was pure chaos.

With the match seemingly headed for a draw, Homeboyz reclaimed the lead deep into the seven minutes of added time when substitute Majaka tapped home from close range, sparking wild celebrations among the home supporters.

But the drama was far from over.

Shabana delivered one final blow in the dying seconds, Nsubuga floated in a precise delivery, and an unmarked Omondi buried a composed finish past Masaka to restore parity and seal a share of the spoils.

The draw saw Homeboyz move to 20 points, squandering a golden chance to climb to the summit of the table.

For Shabana, the result brings their three-match winning streak to a temporary halt, though they move to 19 points, staying firmly within reach of the leading pack.
