Odhiambo returned to Homeboyz during the off-season for his third stint at the club, taking over from Francis Baraza, who left for Tanzanian outfit Pamba Jiji FC together with goalkeeper trainer John Waw and defender Brian Eshihanda.
The former KCB FC coach’s return to the club has come with mixed fortunes at the start of the 2025/26 FKF Premier League season, where the club has won one, drawn one and tasted defeat once in their three matches.
Homeboyz’ defeat came at the hands of league newbies Nairobi United, a 2-0 loss that meant the club has now scored just a single goal in their three league matches.
The former Gor Mahia assistant coach singled out wastefulness in front of goal, blaming it for their recent results.
“That (converting chances to goals) is an area that we are really struggling with. It is a big problem, but we are going to work on it,” said Odhiambo.
On the loss to Naibois, the former Chemelil Sugar FC head coach also addressed the tactical inefficiencies that his team suffered in the match.
“In the first half, we were not tactically upright in terms of positioning, where we are supposed to be with and without the ball. We had a lot of gaps which will always be utilised and punished when facing quality players,” he added.
In the match that was played on Saturday, 11 October, a first-half brace by Enock Machaka was all that the Mozzart Bet Cup champions needed to cause heartache to the 2023 Mozzart Bet Cup winners.
Odhiambo will be under pressure to ensure Homeboyz matches the performances and results that they posted under Baraza, which culminated in a third-place finish last season.
The Mozzart Bet-sponsored side will be back in action on Wednesday, 15 October, with a home fixture against the high-flying Bidco United.
