Jagason was initially expected to play for Gor Mahia this season, but in an unexpected twist, he quietly left the club without explanation or an official announcement
Former Gor Mahia striker Mohamed Shaban Jagason is set to join Ethiopia Coffee FC on a one-year deal, according to Ugandan outlet Kawowo Sports.
The outlet reports that the forward has been in talks with the Ethiopian club for some time and has agreed to a deal that will see him feature for them next season.
Jagason was initially expected to play for Gor Mahia this season, but in an unexpected twist, he quietly left the club without explanation or an official announcement.
His exit left coach Charles Akonnor short of options in attack, as the transfer window had already closed.
The Ugandan international had signed for Gor Mahia in August but departed just days later.
Reports from his camp suggested he pulled out after the club allegedly failed to honour a signing-on fee that had been agreed before he flew to Kenya.
He was reportedly promised USD 30,000 (about Ksh 4 million) upon signing but was instead offered USD 10,000 (about Ksh 1.3 million), with the balance to be settled later.
Jagason is said to have rejected the arrangement outright and returned to Uganda.
“There was a clear agreement before he came to Kenya that the money would be paid in one installment. That changed when he arrived, as he was only offered a third of the amount with a promise that the rest would come later.
This had not been discussed earlier, and he felt shortchanged, so he refused the new arrangement and returned to Uganda. Until Gor Mahia fulfills their side of the bargain, he will not return to Kenya,” a source told Kawowo Sports.
However, a Gor Mahia official dismissed this version, insisting the player introduced new demands upon arrival. The club was unwilling to meet them, and both parties mutually agreed to part ways before he could even kick a ball for the record Kenyan champions.
