The Kenyan duo signed for Kitwe-based club, Power Dynamos FC, back in July after impressing in last season’s FKF Premier League.
Shumah bagged 17 goals to win the league’s Golden Boot, while Osoro was just one goal shy of his compatriot.
Their new home is one that Owino is well aware of, having played in the Zambian league for over a decade and in an exclusive interview with Mozzart Sport, he shared how he has helped the duo settle in.
“I have linked them (Shumah and Osoro) with a Ghanaian friend and former teammate who has been there for a while, understands the people and the culture and will help them adapt faster,” said Owino.
The former Gor Mahia defender also disclosed what the Kenyan duo should do to ensure they take to life in Zambia like a duck to water.
“Football is more of mental, personality and the desire to make it happen. Once you have resolved to make it, you will do it.
There will be off-pitch challenges like missing home and family, but once you have the desire and will, you just hit the road and everything will be okay,” he remarked.
Having experienced both Kenyan and Zambian football, the former Sher Karuturi FC man also took time to elucidate the differences between the two top-tier leagues.
“Football in Zambia is totally different from Kenya, and that is one thing I am sure they have understood by now. It will take them (Osoro and Shumah) a bit of time to adapt, but I am sure they will do so and have good performances.
Football in Zambia is so athletic and therefore requires one to be very fit, which, again, I am sure they have experienced. Even the training is so intense and happens twice a day,” added Owino.
Shumah has since netted two goals for his new club, while Osoro is yet to find the back of the net.
