Central African Republic striker Christian Yawanendji Theodore netted the brace that saw the new team close the gap between them and leaders El Merriekh Bentiu to two points after 22 rounds of the premiership.
The win also came as a consolation to the Wubetu Abate-coached side after being eliminated in the semi-finals of the South Sudan Cup, suffering a 1-0 defeat to arch-rivals El Merriekh SC Bentiu in a quarter-final match played on Monday at the Juba National Stadium.
Wesonga, who has now collected 10 clean sheets across all competitions with Jamus, played the entire game and once again stamped his authority at the heart of defense, organizing the backline with composure and reading danger early to snuff out Malakia’s attacking threat.
His presence brought calm and structure, ensuring the champions remained compact even when Malakia attempted to push forward in search of a breakthrough.
Jamus dictated proceedings with confidence, controlling possession for large spells and stretching Malakia with quick transitions and purposeful movement in the final third.
Theodore’s opener in the 22nd minute settled any early nerves before his second goal after the break effectively killed off the contest, capping a performance that reflected a side in full control and unwilling to leave anything to chance in the title run-in.
Malakia struggled to match Jamus’ intensity and organization, often forced into hurried clearances and speculative attacks that failed to trouble Wesonga and his defensive unit.
The midfield battle was largely one-sided, with Jamus winning second balls and recycling possession efficiently, allowing them to sustain pressure and keep their opponents pinned deep inside their own half.
Even when Malakia attempted to grow into the game in the later stages, Jamus showed maturity in game management, slowing the tempo and maintaining their shape to deny any late drama.
Their discipline off the ball and sharpness in transitions ensured they remained in control until the final whistle, showing their credentials as serious title contenders.
The victory also completed a convincing league double over the fifth-placed Malakia, having beaten them 3-0 in the first meeting, which proved Jamus’ superiority.
With the gap at the summit now trimmed to just 2 points, the defending champions have reignited their title charge and will be banking on this momentum as they chase a second consecutive South Sudan Premier League crown.
