The Kenya international’s second stint at the club came to an abrupt halt after she rejoined the club in January 2024 from Chinese side Beijing Professional FC.
Shikangwa’s exit was confirmed by Simba Queens through their official social media platforms on Tuesday, 15 July.
“Thank you for your goal-scoring art. We have many memories. Thank you, Jentrix Shikangwa,” posted Simba in a post captioned as ‘Thank You.’
Apart from Shikangwa, Simba had also parted ways with captain Violet Nicholas Mwanahamisi, Ritticia Nabbosa, Precious Christopher, Wincate Kaari, Asha Djafari and Gelwa Yonah.
Others are Josephine Julius, Asha Rashid, Mary Saiki, Carolyne Rufa, Jackline Albert and Daniella Ngoyi.
Simba stated that the exit of 14 players is in line with their set targets for next season after losing the league title to JKT Queens on goal difference.
According to the club, the majority of players released are due to the expiry of their contracts, while a few of them have parted ways on mutual consent.
The former Vihiga Queens striker's exit from the club comes as a shock, as expressed online by Simba Queens fans, as she was one of their top performers in the recently concluded season.
The 24-year-old was in great form and was Simba's top scorer in the season with 24 league goals, which made her the second-best scorer in the league.
In her first stint, Shikangwa managed 25 goals for Simba and won the league's golden boot, which earned her a move to China.
Apart from the two clubs, the Harambee Starlets star has also featured for Turkish side Fatih Karagümrük, whom she joined after an impressive stint with Kenyan giants Vihiga Queens and the national team, where she won the Golden Boot in the 2019 CECAFA Women's Championship.
Nevertheless, Simba is still home to three Kenyans: Corazone Aquino, Elizabeth Wambui, and Ruth Ingosi and is courting two other Kenyans: Cynthia Shilwatso and Fasila ‘Kamama’ Adhiambo.
