Rangers had taken the lead in the first half through Brian Marita

Second half substitute, Hansel Ochieng spoiled what would have been early Christmas celebrations for Posta Rangers after his late goal saw Sofapaka rescue a point in a league match played at Wundanyi Stadium.

Rangers were headed for their fifth win of the season but Ochieng ruined the plan to celebrate the three points after finding the back of the net with less than ten minutes left on the clock.

The match saw Sofapaka boss Kennedy Odhiambo return to the touchline after missing in the last three owing to family commitments. The Harambee Stars assistant coach will be glad that Ochieng's goal was enough to prevent the team from losing after picking seven points out of a possible nine in the three matches he was away.

With Kevin Omondi out injured, Odhiambo was forced to start Simon Masaka in between the sticks, in the only change the team made from their last weekend barren draw against Tusker. Omondi suffered a hip injury while in action against the brewers.

After the two teams rattled each other in search of the opening goal,it was the Rangers poster boy Brian Marita who gave the mail men the lead in the 34th minute.

Rangers held on the slim advantage up to the breather that came as a relief to them as the hosts threw everything to their goal in a bid to level matters.

Before restart, Odhiambo withdrew the duo of Nixon Omondi and Roy Okal for the attack minded David King'atua and Ochieng, a change that was intended to poke holes in the Rangers defence.

Hansel, who returned to the club for a second stint before the season began would justify his inclusion with nine matches to the final whistle as he plundered home the equalizer.
