Borussia Dortmund face Augsburg on January 22, and the Ivorian striker is eager to get his name in the line-up
Sebastien Haller is hopeful of making his delayed Borussia Dortmund debut in their first game back after the break.
Former West Ham and Ajax striker moved to Dortmund in the summer. However, he had to withdraw from the club's pre-season training camp after a testicular tumour. He underwent surgery and chemotherapy before returning to training on January 3.
The 28-year-old is now hopeful of a return against Augsburg on January 22.
Asked about that possibility, he said:
"I want to play as quickly as possible. There are no limits and restrictions on my involvement unless the medical staff tell me otherwise."
Haller also suggested he did not feel as though the treatment had had a negative impact on him as a footballer.
Asked about returning, he said:
"(It's the) best feeling I could have. I didn't know what the future would bring, but I focused every day on staying fit.
"I can do everything now that I used to do before, that gives me great confidence.
"I took only 19 days off in the six months. It was hard but it's my job and I love it."
Haller also suggested he had never been worried that his career was over.
"(Retiring) was never on my mind, I had the mindset of looking forward and taking the very day at the time. It was harder for my family, they suffered a lot because they didn't feel in control. They helped me a lot."
