The game was supposed to have been played at the Vapor Grounds

Bottom-placed Kibera Black Stars are on the line of receiving freebies as Gusii FC haven't travelled to Nairobi for their round nine of the National Super League clash that was supposed to have been played at Vapor Grounds.

The game was penciled for Sunday, but as of noon, Gusii are yet to travel or have an official attend the pre-match briefing that ordinarily happens hours before kick-off.

Gusii team manager Hillary Ndemo disclosed that the team had planned to travel for the duel on Saturday overnight, but their plan was thrown into disarray after failing to raise Ksh. 90,000 for the trip.

The club was reported to have landed a commercial partner who had been shouldering the financial burden in five of the seven matches the club has played so far.

However, according to Ndemo, the partner couldn't be reached yesterday evening at a time when the team had hired a bus for travel to Nairobi.

"We had planned to travel overnight for the game, but we couldn't raise finances after failing to hear from our sponsor. Everything was in place except the finances. The sponsor had promised to deliver money at the start of the month, but the promise hasn't been kept. It's unfortunate that we will be giving a walk-over, " he told Mozzart Sport.

Prior to this season, Gusii had been relying on club chairman Paul Mayieko's deep pockets until they managed to nail down a shirt sponsor.

Ndemo called on well-wishers to come to the rescue of the team, even as he hoped that the sponsor would keep the promise made and remit finances on time for the sake of the smooth running of the club.

"I call on well-wishers to help the team meet its financial needs. We have more than 25 matches to be played and players to pay, as well as other logistical demands to be met," he appealed.

The three points Kibera will get will see them scale from the rock bottom of the log. The team has won once, drawn three times, and lost four matches so far.
