Stuttgart's Guinean striker was on the verge of signing a long-term contract with the Champions League runners-up. Alas, now everything is in jeopardy...

Serhou Guirassy's move from VFB Stuttgart to Borussia Dortmund seemed like a done deal.

However, both Bild and Sky Sports Germany report that unexpected injury issues are delaying the completion of that transfer.

The issue is apparently a ligament injury that Guirassy picked up when with Guinea at the end of the season. BVB doctors will analyse the injury in further detail next week and seek further advice.

Guirassy will now fly back to Stuttgart and await these further tests, as no clarity of the deal will be made this week. It is also reported that after these tests next week, Dortmund will decide whether to continue with the move.

The 28-year-old striker also failed his medical when he first moved to Germany in 2016, when he was moving from Lille to Koln.

Guirassy scored an impressive 30 goals in 30 games across all competitions last season.
