The former Sofapaka captain has suffered a fresh injury barely five weeks after recovering from a groin problem, compounding concerns within the K’Ogalo camp at a critical stage of the season.
In an official update posted on the club’s social media platforms just hours before their rescheduled mid-week match against Posta Rangers, which ended in a 1-1 stalemate, the club confirmed the injury blow.
“TEAM NEWS: Lawrence Juma is sidelined for today’s match due to injury sustained; we wish him a quick recovery,” read the club statement.

While the 21-time league champions stopped short of revealing the full extent of the injury, a quick follow-up by Mozzart Sport established that the midfielder is expected to spend close to a month on the sidelines as he undergoes rehabilitation.
“It’s a devastating setback for me, especially as I was gradually getting my rhythm back,” Juma disclosed. “I will be out for about a month as I focus on recovery.”
The 2021 FKF Premier League Midfielder of the Year’s absence adds to Gor Mahia’s growing injury list.
His setback comes just a day after star striker Felix Oluoch underwent surgery to correct an osteochondral injury and a torn meniscus, a procedure that has effectively ruled him out for up to 12 weeks and potentially the remainder of the campaign.
The twin blows arrive at a delicate moment in the title race as the Charles Akonnor-coached side aim to win their record 22nd league title after a rare trophyless campaign last season.
Gor Mahia currently sit at the summit of the league standings with 50 points, seven ahead of second-placed arch rivals AFC Leopards, who trail on 43 points.
