Boafo’s appointment was announced by K'Ogalo through their social media accounts on Tuesday, 5 August.

“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Joshua Kofi Boafo from Ghana as video analyst. Welcome to Mahia, Joshua,” read a post on the club's X (formerly Twitter) account.

Joshua becomes the fourth Ghanaian to join Gor Mahia's technical bench following the appointment of head coach Charles Akonnor, his assistant Kobi-Mensah Bismark and goalkeeper coach Ben Owu.

The three were unveiled on Friday, 1 August bringing an end to a month-long speculation and rigorous recruitment process that sought to fill in the vacant coaching roles at K'Ogalo.

Boafo is believed to be part of coach Akannor's preferred technical staff and was hired on his recommendation.

Gor Mahia sent packing its entire technical bench including the medical team and the security department after a trophyless 2024-2025 season.

The 21-time champions were uncharacteristically defeated by then National Super League (NSL) club Nairobi United in the Mozzart Bet Cup, a few weeks after losing the league title to Kenya Police FC.

The Cup defeat was followed by scenes of violence as a section of fans stormed into the pitch and to the technical bench, forcing coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno to be whisked away to safety.

It is that security breach together with similar scenes in the course of the season that forced the management to sack the entire members of the security department.
