Real Madrid are reportedly impressed by Unai Emery's work with Aston Villa and consider him a serious candidate for the position of their future manager
Real Madrid have been following Xabi Alonso and his work at Bayer Leverkusen, preparing the ground for his arrival after Carlo Ancelotti leaves. However, the project that was supposed to become a new dynasty in the Spanish capital collapsed after only seven months.
Following Alonso's departure, the public began throwing around candidates for his successor, Jurgen Klopp being the most renowned name. In the end, the choice fell on Alvaro Arbeloa, but thanks to defeats to the second-tier Albacete in the Copa del Rey and Benfica in the Champions League last night, the former defender hasn't left an impression of a decent permanent solution.
Hence, Los Blancos began a search for a new head coach, and one particular name emerged. According to credible sources, Ramon Alvarez de Mon and Patrick Berger, journalists of the Spanish Radio Marca and German Sky Sports, respectively, it's Aston Villa boss Unai Emery!

The two reporters claim that Madrid's representatives have already contacted the four-time UEFA Europa League winner, while Berger adds that the officials from Santiago Bernabeu are impressed by the Spaniard's work in Birmingham, as the Villans are in the Premier League title race with Arsenal and Manchester City and are leading favourites to win the UEL.
Emery's deal with the EPL side expires in 2029, but if Los Blancos indeed decide to go for him, he'll hardly stay at Villa Park.
