The Ghanaian attacker made the remarks shortly after Gor Mahia’s dominant victory over defending league champions Kenya Police FC in a post-match interview with Gor Mahia TV.
The win propelled the record league champions to the summit of the 18-team table, dethroning Kakamega Homeboyz and taking charge on 16 points, albeit with a slim one-point margin.
The triumph was sealed in the first half, with Felix Oluoch opening the scoring within three minutes of kick-off, followed by a precise strike from Shariff Musa on the half-hour mark.
The early dominance highlighted Gor Mahia’s intent and tactical discipline, with Adukwaw playing a pivotal role in their approach.
“About pressure on leading the table, well, for me, I left pressure in Ghana, so I am pressure-free,” Adukwaw remarked, exuding confidence.
On his return from injury, Adukwaw expressed gratitude to be back in the squad while acknowledging the extra work required to regain full match fitness.
The former Bechem United FC forward had been sidelined for over a month after sustaining an injury during Gor Mahia’s clash against KCB FC on Sunday, 5 October.
Marking his comeback with a starting berth, Adukwaw crowned his return by providing the assist that led to Oluoch’s opener, demonstrating his readiness and influence on the pitch.
“It wasn’t easy being out for close to a month. Our squad has depth, so you have to work extra hard to earn your spot, and I am delighted with my efforts against Police,” he said.
Reflecting on the victory, Adukwaw revealed that the team’s high-pressing strategy in the opening minutes was key to their success.
“I had to do what the coaches instructed, pressing our opponents early, and it paid off as we scored within three minutes,” he added.
Gor Mahia will be back in action in a fortnight when they face 12-time champions Tusker FC on Saturday, 22 November, with Adukwaw expected to continue playing a central role in the club’s pursuit of the league title.
