Former Sofapaka striker makes promise after sealing move to Kakamega Homeboyz

Former Sofapaka forward Joseph Kuloba says he is settling in well at Kakamega Homeboyz after spending the last three weeks training with the club ahead of the 2026-2027 FKF Premier League season.

The pacey attacker, who completed his move from Sofapaka earlier this month, has quickly adapted to life in Kakamega and believes the welcoming atmosphere within the squad has made the transition much easier.

Kuloba joined Homeboyz as part of the club's ambitious recruitment drive after impressing with his performances for Batoto Ba Mungu.

"I'm really happy to be here. The boys welcomed me from the first day and the technical bench has also been very supportive. It already feels like home.

I have been training with the team for about three weeks now and every session has helped me understand what the coaches expect.

The intensity is high, the quality is good and everyone is pushing each other to improve. I believe I have settled in well and I'm looking forward to the new season," he said.

Kuloba earned plenty of admirers during his spell at Sofapaka, where his pace, direct running and eye for goal made him one of the club's most exciting attacking players.

His displays saw him emerge as one of the league's promising young forwards, with several impressive performances helping Batoto Ba Mungu remain competitive throughout the campaign.

Reflecting on his time at Sofapaka, the attacker expressed gratitude to everyone associated with his former club.

"I want to thank Sofapaka because they allowed me to grow as a player. I learned a lot from the coaches, my teammates and the management. They believed in me and I'll always appreciate the role they played in my career.

Now it's time for a new challenge. Every footballer wants to keep improving and I believe Kakamega Homeboyz is the right place for me to continue developing while helping the team achieve its objectives."

Kuloba joins a Homeboyz side undergoing a major restructuring as chairman Cleophas Shimanyula and the technical bench assemble a squad capable of challenging for top honours in the upcoming campaign.

The club has significantly strengthened its ranks by recruiting experienced defender Charles Momanyi, centre-back Maurice Ojwang, former Gor Mahia assistant captain Geoffrey Okoth and speedy winger Boniface Omondi, among other new arrivals.

The additions underline Homeboyz's determination to build a balanced squad with proven quality across every department.

Competition for places is expected to be fierce, particularly in the attacking third, but Kuloba insists he welcomes the challenge.

"Competition is healthy because it brings out the best in every player. We have brought in quality footballers and everyone understands the expectations. My job is to work hard every day, earn my place and contribute whenever I'm called upon.
