After painstaking effort to sign the brilliant African, Los Blancos have managed to complete the transfer

Real Madrid are on the verge of completing one of the biggest transfers of the summer after reaching an agreement with RB Leipzig for highly rated winger Yan Diomande. The 19-year-old is expected to arrive in the Spanish capital in the coming days to complete his medical before putting pen to paper on a long-term deal.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Madrid have finally struck a deal with Leipzig after lengthy negotiations, with the total package exceeding €100 million. The Bundesliga side had previously turned down an initial proposal worth around €100m, holding out for a higher fee before eventually reaching an agreement with the Spanish giants.

Before Madrid secured the deal, Diomande was one of the most coveted young talents in Europe. Paris Saint-Germain had been considered one of the strongest contenders and had even reached personal terms with the player. However, Romano says the French champions ultimately decided to walk away, choosing not to compromise their financial strategy or disrupt the balance of their squad.

That decision left the door wide open for Real Madrid, who moved quickly to finalize the transfer. Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool were also monitoring the Ivory Coast international but were reportedly unwilling to match Leipzig's valuation.

Diomande's rise has been remarkable. Just a season earlier, he started only six league matches for Leganes, scoring twice as the club was relegated from La Liga. Leipzig nevertheless invested €20 million in the teenager in 2025, and the gamble paid off almost immediately.

The youngster enjoyed a breakout campaign in Germany, making 46 appearances in all competitions and scoring 15 goals, establishing himself as one of Europe's brightest attacking prospects.

The final formalities are expected to be completed this week, with Diomande set to undergo medical tests before signing a contract that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu until June 2031.

Once everything is finalized, he will link up with Jose Mourinho's squad for pre-season, where he could quickly become an important figure, particularly with Vinicius Junior's long-term future at the club still uncertain.
