The development comes just months after the CAF A certified coach re-joined FKF Premier League side Mathare United as John Kamau’s assistant coach.
In their announcement, Ekhaya FC stated that they were pleased to welcome Odipo to their club, going on to list his achievements.
Odipo, also a KNVB (Dutch) Advanced Coaching Certificate holder, has served Kenyan football across all spheres, leading both senior sides and youth teams.
His notable works with youth football have seen him coach the Kenya U15, U17 and U20 national teams, and is remembered for guiding the U15s to a second runners-up finish at the 2023 CAF African Schools Championship.
In the local league, Odipo has held head coaching posts at several clubs including the now-defunct Sony Sugar, Nairobi Stima, Mathare United, Kariobangi Sharks, Kibera Black Stars, Mathare United, and served as an assistant at Tusker and recently, Kenya Police Bullets.
Beyond team coaching, Odipo is a CAF-accredited Coach Educator and has been involved with the Football Kenya Federation, contributing to coach education programs, and also served as a member of the Technical Study Group.
Ekhaya, competing in their debut season in Malawi’s elite league last year, finished seventh on the log with 42 points.
Led by head coach Enos Chatama, the side has this month embarked on a series of new signings, all in readiness for the new season that starts next month.
Ekhaya, in the meantime, plays in a pre-season tournament dubbed Sapitwa Season 4 that begins on Saturday, 28 March.
