Masha is now an influential figure at the fourth tier outfit, where he intends to clock in more minutes under his belt

Former Kakamega Homeboyz left-footed winger Gaetan Ibrahim Masha has revealed why he turned down offers from FKF Premier League sides for fourth-tier Hillside FC in Lodwar.

Masha joined the Western Division Two club in the concluded transfer window after falling out of favor at Homeboyz.

The player stated that his hunger for regular game time pushed him to settle at the fourth-tier side and Homeboyz failure to guarantee him earlier his release letter played a role in his choice.

Masha disclosed that several clubs in top flight league and a return to Nzoia Sugar were on the horizons but the delayed release worked against the moves.

The Mozzart Bet Cup winner is not new to the Lodwar environment as he played for Kakuma United before switching to Nzoia Sugar FC few seasons ago.

"I was dropped by Homeboyz late in the transfer window and they delayed on my release letter therefore, I could not secure a premier League move. I had to sign for a team that will guarantee me game time and joining Hillside will keep me in shape and help regain my form, " he said.

"I choose Hillside because football is career and you have to think about your people. They gave me a good contract and felt the urge to be part of the interesting project, " he added.

Masha further revealed his desire to guide the Division Two side to the third-tier noting that the experience acquired in the upper leagues will be essential at helping the team scale to higher heights.

Apart from the team objectives, he also has individual targets he intends to hit before the conclusion of the first leg with eyes fixed on grabbing double digits goal contribution.

"The experienced I gained in the premier League will be helpful as we seek promotion to Division One. I also want to get at least 10 goal involvements before the January transfer window opens," he stated.

Masha remained optimistic of securing a move to Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) at the conclusion of the season as he admits to have unfinished business at the big stage.
