The Haiti Football Federation announced the development on Wednesday, 15 July, confirming that both parties had reached an agreement to part ways, this coming just days after the Frenchaman had guided Les Grenadiers back into the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1974.

"Haiti have reached an agreement to part ways with coach Sebastien Migne, ending the Frenchman's tenure after he led the country to their first World Cup appearance since 1974," Haiti Football Federation's statement, signed by federation Secretary General Patrick Massénat, read. "This decision, made in a spirit of mutual respect and dialogue, allows each party to pursue the next stage of its journey.

His tenure will be remembered for Haiti’s historic qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, allowing the nation to return to football’s most prestigious competition 52 years after its first appearance. The Haitian Football Federation salutes coach Migné’s professionalism, commitment, and dedication throughout his tenure with the men’s national team.”

Having been appointed back in March 2024, Migne, who served as Kenya's head coach from May 2018 to August 2019, achieved one of Haiti's greatest footballing successes, when his team beat Nicaragua 2-0 in November last year, to finish atop of the CONCACAF qualifiers, and secure a memorable ticket to the World Cup.

Migne's success was made all the more heroic, as he had to navigate the team through one of the country's harshest security crisis, which saw him and the squad play qualifiers and pre-World cup fixtures outside the home nation.

Despite all of that, however, it does seem like the Haitian federation was not overly pleased with Migne's record at the World Cup finals, where his team became the first to be eliminated from the tournament, and ended their participation winless.

Having assembled a squad largely drawn from Haitian professionals playing for clubs across Europe, Asia and the Americas, Migne, who also previously served as Equatorial Guinea head coach, saw his side lose 1-0 to Scotland in their opening match on 14 June, before being humbled 3-0 by Brazil six days later.

Albeit showing some improvement on the final match day, Haiti settled for a third-consecutive defeat at the competition, surrendering two leads to lose 4-2 to Morocco, and bounce out without a single point.

Migne, speaking shortly after Haiti's exit, did harbor expectations of carrying on with his job, but for the latest decision to end his reign.

As per reports, the 53-year-old remains hot-property, with sources linking him to the Gabon national team job.
