AS Kigali confirmed the acquisition of the Congolese forward through their official X account, formerly Twitter, announcing his arrival with an optimistic message.
“A new chapter begins. Welcome, Gedeon Bendeka!” read the club’s post, signaling confidence in the striker’s ability to bolster their attacking options.
Bendeka’s move marks a return to familiar territory just a year and a half after leaving the Rwanda Premier League in 2024.
During his previous stint in Rwanda, the burly striker enjoyed a prolific spell with Etincelles FC, where he netted 13 goals in 22 appearances.
His impressive scoring form caught the attention of Kenyan giants Gor Mahia, earning him a move to the record league champions ahead of the 2024/25 FKF Premier League season.
At Gor Mahia, Bendeka showed glimpses of his potential despite limited game time, scoring six league goals and finishing the campaign as the club’s second-highest scorer.
However, tactical shifts and intense competition for places saw him deemed surplus to requirements at the end of the season.
The forward quickly found a new home at Kakamega Homeboyz, joining the Patrick Odhiambo-coached side at the start of the current campaign in an attempt to revive his career.
Unfortunately, his time at the Kakamega-based club failed to yield the desired turnaround, as restricted playing time once again hampered his impact in front of goal, as he left having found the back of the net just once for the 2023 Mozzart Bet Cup winners
In December, Bendeka was among ten players released by Homeboyz following a squad overhaul, bringing his brief stint at Abana Abeingo to an end.
Now back in Rwanda with AS Kigali, Bendeka will be eager to rediscover the form that once made him one of the league’s most feared forwards.
