The Sugar Millers, who drew to Kakamega Homeboyz before suffering a narrow 1–0 defeat to debutants Nairobi United in their first two home games of the season, were unable to build on from their latest win to remain winless in their backyard.
A confident Mara Sugar midfielder Brian Ochieng, got one of his pre-game rallying cries to go with his team keeping their second clean-sheet of the season, but his expectations of the side possessing a killer instinct upfront bore no rewards, as they endured a tough afternoon that was characterised with heavy downpour at the start.
In a game of little chances, the hosts were made to contend with an early injury to Abdalah Swaleh, who was replaced in the 25th minute by Mike Isabwa.
The only positive for the hosts, however, was that dependable defender Joseph Okwenda marked his return from a long lay-off with an ankle injury sustained earlier this year, when he was introduced off the bench in the 75th minute to replace Silas Oningo.
The stalemate for Edward Manoah’s side, though maintaining their top-tier unbeaten run against Bidco, did little in quelling their relegation fears, as they remained within touching distance to the teams rooted at the bottom.
After four games, Mara have five points, which are just two ahead of Murang'a Seal in 16th , and three away from Tusker a place behind in 17th.
Bidco, on the other hand, failed once more to build onto their hot start to the season that saw them win their two opening games, and now lie fourth with seven points - three behind leaders Posta Rangers.
