Former AFC Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda has strongly dismissed allegations of mismanagement leveled against him by, his predecessor, Boniface Ambani, terming them as misleading and unfounded.

In a detailed statement posted on his Facebook page, Shikanda , who served at the helm of the club for six years, took issue with Ambani’s claims that his administration had left behind a trail of rot, that crippled the new management.

Addressing accusations surrounding unpaid player salaries and allowances, the former Gor Mahia winger defended his record, insisting that no player had raised such complaints during his tenure.

He pointed out that Ambani’s twin brother, Fred Ambani, served as part of the technical bench at the time and never reported any cases of financial impropriety.

"So many players came and went during my tenure. At some point, your own brother served as assistant coach and later as acting coach. How many complaints did he receive from players about unpaid salaries or ‘chewed’ allowances then?” posed Shikanda.

“These same players live freely among us today. Kindly produce one who can confirm your allegations.”

Shikanda further clarified that the issue of court cases against the club did not originate under his leadership, arguing that he inherited numerous legal disputes upon assuming office in 2019.

He cited the long-standing Sejere case among those dating back to the 2013–2014 season.

"Court cases are not a discovery of your administration. When I assumed office, I inherited multiple cases dating back to 2013–2014, including the famous Sejere matter,” Shikanda explained.

“Did I summon Kasavuli and the then officials for a social media showdown? No. I handled it quietly, professionally, and settled more than 15 other cases. That’s what leadership looks like bringing your A-game, not your complaints.”

On the issue of gate collections, Ambani had alleged that funds were directed to individual mobile accounts.

Shikanda countered that the club adopted the Pochi la Biashara model to minimize losses and curb payment reversals from fans during match days.

"The Pochi la Biashara model was introduced to curb fan payment reversals, a persistent challenge during match days,” he said.

“Every cent collected was accounted for and reconciled. It was an administrative measure, not a cash cow. Let us not insult the intelligence of the people involved with half-truths.”

The former chairman also brushed off claims regarding outstanding debts, noting that his team transparently handed over all liabilities during the official transition process , one that Ambani himself attended.

"Those debts were clearly outlined during the official handover, a process you personally attended,” Shikanda remarked.

“So this sudden discovery and social media outrage? Pure drama.”

Concluding his statement, Shikanda dismissed suggestions that he had “fleeced” leaders from Western Kenya, terming the accusations as baseless and laughable.

"Which political leader gives money without expecting recognition? If you’ve met one, kindly frame that miracle for the museum,” he added..

Shikanda served as AFC Leopards chairman for six years, overseeing the club through financial and administrative challenges before leaving office earlier this year.

His response now adds a new twist to the ongoing public exchange between the two football administrators.
