The programme, which carries a total value of Ksh20 million, was unveiled during a ceremony presided over by FKF President Hussein Mohammed, marking the formal execution of a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening football development at the grassroots level in Machakos.

Based off a structure that will progress from the ward level to the county finals, the Soccer Summit is set to involve approximately 9,600 players from 480 teams in the county.

Addressing guests during the ceremony, Capt. Irene Ndanu emphasised the Summit’s broader social impact saying: "This partnership is about creating platforms - platforms for talent, for discipline, and for opportunity.

When talent meets structure, and passion meets governance, we begin to build something that can transform lives, not just produce winners.”

As part of its remit, the Soccer Summit is to dip into crucial roles in the game including: certified coach training, structured talent identification for high-performance camps, and financial literacy and management programmes for the youth.

On top of that, the programme will offer governance training for prize-winning teams and FKF Machakos County officials, and contribute to welfare causes by distributing dignity packs to female participants.

“From our recent engagements with grassroots football officials across the country, one message has been clear - talent is everywhere, but structure is what unlocks potential,” FKF Mohammed said during the launch.

“Programmes such as this one demonstrate how organised competitions, supported by strong governance, can create real pathways for players, coaches, and administrators.”

Out of the total Ksh20 million the program is valued at, Ksh5 million will be chanelled towards prize money, while participating teams will also benefit from full playing kits and essential match equipment.

“Grassroots football must go beyond match results," Mohammed added. "It must build capacity, accountability, and life skills.

This initiative aligns directly with FKF’s national technical and grassroots development strategy.”

The tournament is expected to serve as the anchor of the Summit, and is designed to create a clear and inclusive participation pathway, with parity also trickling down to both men and women's prize struxtures.
