FALSE 10: Last train to Titlesville

Mikel Arteta is probably facing the most challenging match of his coaching career so far as Arsenal face Tottenham in the North London derby (Sunday, 7.30 pm)

It all comes down to this, doesn't it?

All the hard work, consistency, patience, commitment, and everything else you've put on the table since the start of the season come to this ultimate test - you must show out there, on the pitch, in those 90+ a few more minutes, that you're really one of a kind, capable of winning it all.

Don't let the facts fool you.

Arsenal are still in contention for every single trophy this season (all four of them), which could turn out to be the most decorated and memorable in the entire history of the Gunners. A potential Quadruple would be much more than a pure success; it would draw the line between them and all the other English clubs in ways that are not even explicable. No one has ever done it. Not even that legendary Fergie's Man Utd in 1999, which won the Treble (Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup). Mikel Areta and his boys could top even that larger-than-life achievement. So, what's this fuss and worry all about?

Fear.

These little, yet visible signs of fear among the Gunners' fanbase have become almost palpable after a series of unexpected slip-ups and upsets in the last few Premier League games. Just two victories in the last five matches heavily affected Arsenal's title credentials and reduced their once-massive gap to Manchester City to just two points, with ten rounds still to go.

A tragic loss to Manchester United, accompanied by two disappointing draws in a row with Brentford and Wolves, has almost shattered dreams that were just around the corner until a few weeks ago.

Doubt.

Inevitably, that string of poor results triggered doubt among both Arsenal supporters and their enemies about Arteta's ability to finally put his hands on the EPL trophy. And not just that one...

But this one stands out, especially because many of his current players weren't even born when Arsene Wenger and his Invincibles triumphed in 2004. The wait has been too long, and they probably won't get a better opportunity to put an end to it than this time.

The defending champions, Liverpool, have reached a shocking low after reaching an incredible high on their rollercoaster ride with Arne Slot, while Chelsea have been as clueless as it gets for quite some time now. Manchester United are a mere shadow of their once-giant self, and - basically - Arsenal are left with a single contender.

Mentality.

It's not something you can learn or extract from some kind of graphic, but you build it over the years through various difficulties and, eventually, victories, overcoming obstacles on your way to ultimate glory. That's a skill, a virtue Pep Guardiola has instilled in his Manchester City squad over the last decade. Sure, the presence of dozens of impressive players didn't hurt either.

But that's what separates City from Arsenal at this point. Pep from Arteta. Winners from wannabe winners. The mentality that knocks on the door again as the Premier League title race suddenly becomes exciting and intriguing.

Challenge.

And there's no bigger for Arteta's army than the one looming today, as they're about to face Tottenham in the North London derby. The pressure is mounting around the Emirates, and the battle with the next-door neighbours could show us what they are really made of. The fact that Spurs are devastatingly bad, flirting with relegation, just pours some more sauce on the whole thing. Tudor's men are obliged to fight as their lives depend on it. Arsenal can't afford a third winless game in a row.

Plot.

Everything is there, the perfect setup for one of the most decisive games of the entire EPL season. And, sure, if Arsenal win, it doesn't mean the race is over, and that the five-point margin has put the EPL silverware out of Pep's reach. It will just show that Arteta's camaraderie is built differently than in previous seasons. It stays solid under the toughest challenges and high-pressure conditions.

Failure.

In case of another setback, on the other hand, the vultures would gather around the Spaniard and his crew in a matter of minutes. City would be given a clear sign that everything is on the table, up for them, and that their only rival is definitely losing pace. For the team of such experience and mentality, this would be everything they've dreamt of.

Tune in for the North London derby. The verdict is about to be reached tonight.

The Premier League title is at stake.
