The former Gunner has been impressed with the training mood he saw in the Arsenal camp
The great career of Cesc Fabregas is finished, as the player announced his retirement in August this year and began working for his coaching badges. He now also has time to do some inteviews, and watch his beloved Arsenal, for which he played just over 300 games from 2003 until 2011. Before the switched over to his boyhood club Barcelona, the Spaniard won FA Cup and the Premier League title, the last one the Gunners won before beginning the unwanted feast, which is still active. But Fabregas believes that this just might be this year.
The Spanish midfielder talked to the Premier League productions, and was very positive with what he saw on Arsenal's training.
“It will just bring more positivity. I know how much they want to win the Premier League. I have been at the training ground recently and I know that they are waiting. I can smell it. They working towards that moment in a very passionate way. They are doing everything in every way to make this happen. With this young group, with the energy, the passion, the quality and the hunger they are showing each week. I think it’s closer than it has ever been for the last 12-15 years” said former Gunner.
Of course, a 1-0 win over Manchester City has also raised the optimism to the highest level, and Arteta was very pleased with what he saw at the Emirates. The future coach praised his contryman for his half-time changes.
“It’s big, it’s a big statement for Arsenal. It’s a long time since they’ve won against Manchester City, so this is a big moment for the players. It was a good call bringing on Martinelli, attacking the space and taking on Walker one-on-one. It was a 50-50 game, but if anyone deserved to win, it was Arsenal” said Fabregas.
