Former Sofapaka coach David Ouma has challenged local clubs to invest more in the human capital if they want to perform at the highest level.

Nairobi United needed post-match penalties to edge out Tunisian side ES Sahel 7-6 after the North African side won the return match 2-0 at home.
Nairobi, had won the first leg in a similar score line.
“Despite their short history, they have shown that they can carry themselves at the biggest stage. It did not come by accident, but as result of the good investment they have put in the manpower,” he said.
Like Nairobi United, Singida Black Stars have also qualified for the group stages of the Confederations Cup after edging out Burundian side Flambeau du Centre 4-2 on aggregate.
Ouma challenged Kenyan clubs to give priority to player’s welfare, which he said was a driver of good results.
“Investment is not just about having good facilities which is important but also human capital which is where Tanzanian clubs are thriving in," he stated.
Ouma repeated his advice to local football authorities to open the league to more foreigners pointing this is the only way to raise its standards.
“At the league level, you need to inject professionalism and foreigners bring that level of competition that, pushes the local players. Tanzania has done very well in this area and is one Kenya can emulate," he added.
This is the second Tanzanian side that Ouma is handling after initially being in charge of Coastal Union, where he also helped the club qualify for the Confederations Cup.
Singida Black Stars have had an impressive performance finishing in the top four last year and were also runners-up at the Council for East and Central Africa (CECAFA) club championships.
