Ouma, 29, has been on the sidelines for the national team and his Polish club Raków Częstochowa for the last three months, following a rupture to his Achilles ligament during a training session for the latter on 26 August.
The former AIK man consequently underwent surgery on 5 September, and earlier this month stated in a club video that rehabilitation was going perfectly well.
Providing further update on his health status, Otieno gave other reasons for optimism, while putting forward a date he thinks he will be ready to return to footballing action.
“I am now starting to feel good because I am starting to walk again,” Ouma, who joined Raków in January 2024, told Studio AIK Live on Wednesday, 26 November.
“For the last month I was not walking, but now at least I am getting my momentum. By next year we will start to do some running and some football.”
Asked when exactly his potential return would be, he said: “Actually by March.”
Ouma, who was recounting his best moments at AIK on the podcast, revealed he was undertaking his rehab in Sweden.
That, he said, was his personal decision, which had been granted by the club.
“In Raków, you actually have a choice (on where to do rehabilitation) when you get injured,” Ouma said. “You can either do it in Poland, Sweden, or wherever you want.
I decided to come to Sweden because I have someone that we understand each other. It was a plus for me because I am working with a physio that was in AIK before.”
Ouma still remains a fan favorite at AIK, the club he joined in January 2020, playing 104 official appearances across four seasons.
