EFL Cup: Seventh heaven for United as they ruthlessly thump Barnsley

We can't compare a Premier League giant and the third-tier side, but the Red Devils' fanbase will be thrilled after Tuesday night. Manchester United were more than brutal against Barnsley in the EFL Cup 1/16 round, rushing to a 7-0 statement win.

Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Christian Eriksen led the hosts with two goals apiece, while Antony added one from the spot, his first goal of the season.

It was Garnacho who kickstarted the action for the opener as he played a long diagonal right into Rashford's path and the Manchester United forward slotted it superbly into the top right corner.

As if he was showing the entire stadium - I'm back!

That wonderful goal seemed to have inspired Erik ten Hag's team, and together with Barnsley's keeper mistake shortly after, paved the way for this ruthless win.

Slonina took down Antony inside his box, although the winger was running away from the goal.

Antony stepped up to take the penalty, and made it despite a silly run-up (one-step penalty).

Even before the half-time break, Garnacho bagged his side's third and Rashford returned to scoring after the interval.

After one more Garnacho's, Eriksen put on a small one-man show near the end, netting twice in the span of five minutes for 7-0.
