Despite failing to win their last seven National Super League matches, Mombasa Elite goalkeeper Richard Ebenyo is adamant the club will soon find the shooting boots and end the unwanted run at the Coastal-based club.

Elite, formerly Modern Coast Rangers, have endured a tough run in the league despite appearing to settle in earlier in the season and have yet to record a win since their 1-0 victory over Mulembe United in October.

The Charles Okwemba-administered club have lost to Darajani Gogo, Kisumu All Stars, Mara Sugar, Migori Youth, and Nairobi United while playing out a stalemate in the derby against Mombasa Stars.

Ebenyo, who is part of the senior players and an integral core in the squad told Mozzart Sport that the team was working tirelessly around the clock to arrest the poor form and work towards achieving the season's targets.

"We will bounce back from the poor record. We are doing everything possible to get a win that will set the pace for more wins in the coming days," he said.

The custodian who has amassed a vast of experience plying trade in the second tier further revealed that a lapse in performance can be attributed to a huge number of debutants at the club, who are finding the going tough in the second division.

Elite brought more than fifteen players during the off-season transfer window in line with the club’s philosophy of developing young talents and giving them a platform to showcase their skills and abilities but it seems to have worked against them this season with the club languishing in the 15th position two points from the drop zone.

We have a very young team that is taking time to adapt to this league and we knew that. The boys are talented and it is just a matter of time before we all witness the quality of this team. The club made some impressive additions and once the chemistry clicks, we're going to move out of this position. We, players, suffer the most when the team is not winning because we depend on winning allowances, so it is our collective responsibility to make sure everything gets back to normal and fans are rewarded with three points starting this weekend,” added the former Murang’a Seal goalkeeper.

Ebenyo, who is keen on making the FKF Premier League bow at the end of this season noted that with adequate support from the top management, the players are in a position to jostle and fight for a place in the promotion contest as he believes with the complexity of the Super League winning all their home matches and getting decent results away from home will give them another chance.

“We have a good team that if they get all the needed support then we can get our name back in the promotion talks,” concluded the netminder who has six clean sheets to his name this term.
