The Italian keeper signed from PSG until 2030

The bombshell that had been awaited for days and didn’t go off last night exploded today. Last night, just before the window closed, Manchester City finalized everything regarding Gigio Donnarumma. Paris Saint-Germain will receive 35,000,000 euros as compensation. However, the entire deal was only completed a short while ago. All the paperwork is finished, the transfer has gone through, and everything was tied to the operation involving Ederson’s move to Fenerbahce. The Brazilian arrived on the Bosphorus, signed a three-plus-one year contract, and then the Italian goalkeeper also put his signature on the documents. Manchester City landed a superstar for peanuts, a real bargain, and with him they can now build long-term plans, because they signed him until 2023.

So, a five-year contract plus an optional extra year, as had previously been discussed. The Citizens have secured a giant between the posts, an imposing figure, a goalkeeper with pedigree, someone who was in the front line of those responsible for PSG breaking the curse last May, standing shoulder to shoulder with the biggest clubs on the continent and finally winning the Champions League after 14 years and 6.3 billion euros spent.

Paris could come to bitterly regret their decision to change the conditions and rules of the game. The two sides had talked last May, and at the time it seemed Donnarumma would stay at the Parc des Princes. But the club changed its mind. They stuck to their stance even after the Champions League and the Club World Cup – no new contract. Instead, Lucas Chevalier was signed in a 40,000,000 transfer, one of the biggest for a goalkeeper in history.

At that moment, everything became clear. Gianluigi Donnarumma made his decision – he would not complete his final year at PSG. Pep Guardiola immediately called, seizing a rare opportunity. But it wasn’t until today that the deal was officially sealed and champagne bottles could be opened at the Etihad. And the other deal, inevitably tied with this one was also completed: Fenerbahce has announced that they’ve secured the Brazilian. As for the contract details, they are as follows: during his stay at the Turkish club, Ederson will earn 11,000,000 euros and he has signed a three-plus-one-year deal. In terms of compensation, Fenerbahce will pay Manchester City a fixed 11,000,000, with an additional 2,000,000 potentially coming through bonuses. After eight years, Ederson has left the Etihad, during which time he contributed to winning 18 trophies. The most valuable one, of course, is the Champions League. The Brazilian’s mission at the Etihad is over, that chapter is closed, and now it’s time for the one in which Gigio Donnarumma rules between the posts.
