Newly-acquired Naivas forward Derrick Anami believes that, he has what it takes to clinch the 'Golden Boot' in the new National Super League season set to kick off this weekend.

Anami joined Naivas last month from Zoo FC who are languishing in the third tier after failing to secure promotion last season, losing to Nairobi United in the promotion/relegation playoff.

The net buster told Mozzart Sport that, winning the individual award and helping the club get promoted was, all what he was seeking to achieve in the new campaign.

Naivas, who are scheduled to start the season with the clash against Dimba Patriots/ Mwatate United, have been on a signing spree and even strengthened their technical bench by acquiring former Mathare United head coach Collins Omondi.

"I want to be the top scorer in the league and help Naivas get promoted. I believe in myself and in the team which the coach has assembled. We have everything needed to succeed," he said.

The move to Naivas, saw Anami settle in his second home since leaving the Musingu High School in 2017. The forward had played for Zoo for the last five years.

He said exited Zoo at the right time and was ready for the new challenge ahead of him.

Several clubs including Mathare and Wazito attempt led to sign the striker sometimes back but it proved impossible.

"My time at Zoo came to an end and felt the need to seek a fresh challenge. I played for Zoo for five years and left the club a proud player of what I achieved," he offered.

Anami, an elder brother to Harambee Starlets forward Jentrix Shikangwa is hoping to hit the ground running at Naivas once he recovers from a slight knock that will keep him out for two weeks.
