"I had other opportunities, but they didn't materialize because PSG rejected many offers. I don't understand why the club behaved that way."
Paris Saint-Germain's recent results have been far from expected and highly unsatisfactory, so it's no wonder the atmosphere around the club is bad. However, occasionally, some former player speaks up, reminding everyone that even while the results were there, it wasn't all fantastic in Paris.
After Jese Rodriguez and Hatem Ben Arfa, Danilo Pereira is the latest former Saints member to criticize his former team. Speaking to Le Parisien, the Portuguese revealed that he was surprised that the club no longer wanted him.
"As soon as the 2023/24 season ended, I had the feeling that something strange was happening. Then, LuÃs Campos came to tell me that I was no longer part of their plans. The decision was the coach's; I didn't contest it. I didn't want to stay at a club where I wasn't wanted. When they told me I wasn't in their plans and that I needed to look for another club, I accepted it," Danilo said.
However, that's where the real troubles began.
"On the other hand, negotiations were tough. That was the issue. They didn't facilitate my exit, and that hurt me because I have a lot of affection for the club. It wasn't easy. It was the most painful feeling. I believe I didn't deserve to be treated that way. It was very hard. I don't understand why the club behaved that way. I didn't hurt anyone; I just wanted to train normally while we found the best solution," the Saudi Al-Ittihad defender revealed.

It was a bit difficult to leave PSG, but I feel good at Al-Ittihad, plus I found players I already know like Benzema & Diaby & Houssem Aouar & Fabinho, and coach Laurent Blanc who brings us a lot. pic.twitter.com/I7oejTlj5R
He also disclosed that PSG rejected a number of offers from the TOP 5 European league for financial reasons, making his situation extremely challenging.
"I had other opportunities, but they didn't materialize because PSG rejected many offers. There were contacts with FC Porto, Atlético Madrid... I had proposals from Italy and Germany. But everything was blocked for financial reasons. The club asked for a lot of money," Pereira said.
